Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

Your account email and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text); the trip, catch, and location data you log; any photos you attach to a catch; and, if you subscribe to Pro, your subscription/billing status. Location data (dropped pins, catch coordinates) is used to fetch tide, weather, and regulations information relevant to that spot, and to show it back to you on your own trips and maps. This data is private to your account and isn't shared with other users.

ReelTideLog can also ask your device for its current position, so that Current Conditions and a new trip can start at where you actually are instead of making you find it on the map. Your device asks your permission first, and declining it costs you nothing beyond having to drop the pin yourself — every other feature works the same way. A position obtained this way is treated exactly like a pin you dropped: used to fetch conditions for that spot, and saved only if you save the trip or catch it belongs to.

2. Cookies

ReelTideLog sets one cookie: the sign-in token that keeps you logged in. It is marked HttpOnly, so no script on the page can read it, and Secure, so it only travels over HTTPS. It expires on its own, and logging out or deleting your account clears it.

That is the entire list. There are no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, and no third-party trackers of any kind — no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, nothing that follows you to other sites. Because the one cookie we set is strictly necessary to log you in, there is nothing here to opt out of, which is why you are not asked to accept cookies when you arrive.

3. Third parties we use

ReelTideLog relies on the following processors to operate:

• Stripe — processes web subscription payments. ReelTideLog never sees or stores your card details.
• Apple / Google (via RevenueCat) — processes in-app purchase subscriptions made through the iOS or Android app.
• Anthropic — your trip data is sent to generate the AI-written fishing insights and weekly reports shown in the app.
• Vercel — hosts the app and its database, and stores catch photos you upload.
• NOAA and other weather/tide data providers, and Esri— receive the coordinates needed to fetch conditions and map tiles for a location; they don't receive your account identity.

4. How we use your data

To operate the Service: showing your trips and catches back to you, fetching conditions for your logged locations, generating the AI insights/reports feature, and processing subscription payments.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings inside the app — that removes your trips, catches, photos and stats immediately and cannot be undone. If you would rather we did it, or you can no longer sign in, email reeltidelog@gmail.com.

6. Children's privacy

ReelTideLog isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time.
